Starting Points highlighted the critical importance of the first three years of life for subsequent healthy development. It documented the "quiet crisis" that young children face today--including low prenatal care and immunization rates, the rising incidence of child abuse and neglect, and disturbing trends in family stability. National Association of Education of the Young Child This site provides resources that help parents and early childhood professionals make the critical early years the best that they can be for the children under their care. This is a national non-profit organization that conducts research, consults with companies, and informs public policy development. It has taken a leading role in informing the public about the important of the early years and has some outstanding resources. ERIC Clearinghouse on Elementary and Early Childhood Education The ERIC Clearinghouse on Elementary and Early Childhood Education (ERIC/EECE) is a comprehensive database in the areas of child development, the education and care of children from birth through early adolescence, the teaching of young children, and parenting and family life. KidsCampaigns: The Early Years This section of the KidsCampaigns web site has resources on development, safety, childcare, parent care, and a variety of other issues relevant to the early years of childhood. National Parent Information Network NPIN is part of the ERIC system and provides information to parents and those who work with parents and to foster the exchange of parenting materials. Child CareLINC Missouri childcare resources National Child Care Information Center Resources to enhance and promote child care linkages and to serve as a mechanism for supporting quality, comprehensive services for children and families.
